Description
The Cars/Elliot Easton's 1980 Greco Super Real Sunburst Solid Body Electric Guitar, Serial # 06538 1980 Greco Super Real, built for Elliot Easton, lead guitarist of the Cars, one of two made, the other having a quilted maple top. The guitar made for Easton features a carved bookmatched solid maple top, mahogany body and neck, all correctly duplicating the '58-'59 era Les Pauls, very rarely ever built left handed. In The September 1981 Guitar World, Elliot is quoted, "They took one ( a '58-9's Les Paul) to one of their universities in Tokyo, analyzed the fuck out of it, and cloned it."
Included in this offering is a genuine ad from a Japanese music magazine featuring Easton playing this beautiful Super Real in concert. Also a letter of authenticity is included stating, "This letter is to certify that the left handed Greco Super Real guitar (one of 2 lefties made) was originally owned by me and sold to David Jaschke,/Sincerely/ Elliot Easton, signed and dated January 17, 2014.
There is a small ding close to the back edge of the body close to the output jack, and there is a small amount of belt buckle indentation on the back, but no finish is missing, The neck, frets. tone, action, etc, are all excellent.
The Cars had hit after hit in the early '80's with Easton's searing, tasteful leads cutting thru the airwaves in such hits as "Shake it Up," "Just What I Needed," "My Best Friend's Girl," "Moving in Stereo," "Drive," "Let's Go," and others.
This beautiful authentic guitar was developed for and owned by one of the most influential guitarists in rock and roll history, Elliot Easton. Excellent Condition. Comes with its original Greco hard case.
