Ted Nugent's 1968 Gibson Byrdland Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar, Serial # 899093. Ranked as the 31st greatest guitar solo of all time by Guitar World Magazine, "Stranglehold" is hands down one of the most iconic and influential rock songs of the last 50 years. Debuting as the first track on Ted Nugent's 1975 self-titled album (the cover of which featured this very guitar), the song became an instant sensation and skyrocketed Ted Nugent to super-stardom. This 1968 Byrdland is the guitar that started it all. Ted Nugent used this guitar to write and record "Stranglehold" in late 1974. Purchased by Nugent near the end of his run with the legendary Amboy Dukes and dubbed the Test Byrd, it quickly became one of his favorites and his guitar of choice for writing, recording and testing new pickups. It features Ted Nugent's trademark wood burned "Ted Nugent #3" on the back. There are small areas of strum wear visible on the top from years of honest play wear by one of the all-time greats. The guitar has been oversprayed and the pickups and knobs have been changed. A Gretsch switch tip has been installed as well with all work done to accommodate Ted Nugent's dynamic playing style. The tuners have been replaced and the holes have been professionally filled. Supporting documentation, photos of the guitar being used in concert and authentication from Ted Nugent are all included. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own one of the most important guitars in rock history. Later Gibson hard case included. Condition: Very Good. Price Guide Value N/A
