Ed King's 1959 Fender Stratocaster Black Solid Body Electric Guitar, #36806. Guitar was used in the recording of the third Lynrd Skynrd album Nuthin' Fancy and was Ed King's main guitar in the mid-1970's. According to Mr. King, this guitar's body was refinshed by Strings & Things in Memphis long ago. Custom single ply tortoise pickguard was also cut by Strings & Things with slothead screws. Body date of 1959. Tone pots date to 1st week of 1959. Volume pots date to 13th week of 1969. Neck pickup is a grey bottom from the 70's with plastic wire. Middle and bridge pickups appear to be correct for 1959. Bridge is much later and appears to be from the 1980's. Slab board neck has no neck date as is common for 1959. Considerable play wear with some areas of re-finish. Original frets but a brass nut has been installed. Play wear to the fingerboard. Very good repro decal. Foil lined control cavity. Includes 1988 letter from Mr. King authenticating the guitar. More recent verbal authentication by Mr. King supports the guitars storied past with one of the most important Southern Rock band of all time. Flight case included. Condition: Fair.
