DescriptionB.B. King Signed Gibson ES-355 "Lucille" Electric Guitar (#35, 1987). A 15 time Grammy Award Winner, and a Blues, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, B.B. (Riley B.) King is considered to be one of the most influential blues musicians of all time, earning the nickname "The King of the Blues".
B.B. King played guitars made by various manufacturers early in his career, however, he was best known for playing variants of the Gibson ES-355 (usually in black), which he affectionately nicknamed "Lucille". In 1980, Gibson launched the B.B. King Lucille model, and in 2005, made a special run of 80 Lucilles, referred to as the "80th Birthday Lucille", the first prototype of which was given as a birthday gift to King, and which he used thereafter.
This Lucille was made on July 9th, 1987 at Gibson's Nashville, TN plant, and is Production #35. Mr. King has signed on the tortoise-shell pick guard in a dark colored marker. The guitar shows signs of light crazing to the finish, on the face, with some light tarnish on the tuning knobs and hardware. The bottom edge of the pickups are tarnished, possibly from play wear. In Excellent Plus condition. Includes the original hardcase a B.B. King, and Sun Records guitar pick.
