1982 G & L S-500 Mahogany Solid Body Electric Guitar, #G010609. Prototype G & L with mahogany body. Comes with 1994 letter from Dale Hyatt, long-time associate of George Fullerton and Leo Fender since the founding of Fender in 1946. Hyatt was the father of and marketing strategist behind G&L's highly collectible Broadcaster model during its only production period from May 1985 through May 1986. 869 guitars were made. Hyatt states, in part, "This was an experimental guitar used by Leo Fender in his lab...Leo liked to constantly try out different pickups, nuts and handpegs. This was the benchmark guitar he loved and experimented with." He also notes in the letter, this model, the serial number and the date of the guitar. A scarce documented guitar belonging to Leo Fender!
