    Description

1977 Gibson The Les Paul Natural Solid Body Electric Guitar, Serial # 40. A beautiful example of one of the master constructed Gibson's from the Norlin Era. The exotic woods and attention to detail are amazing. Pot date code (1377806) is the 6th week of 1978 but the completion date on the Mother of Pearl plaque is 12-5-77. Perhaps it was finished, and then sent off for wiring. All the electronics appear to be original and are in working order. The pickups are out of phase in the middle position.
These guitars began as a prototype for a bicentennial and became these works of master craftsmanship. There were only 77 guitars made in this model; 59 made with a Natural finish and 18 made in a Red Wine finish. Abalone inlay and side markers. A three-piece ebony and rosewood fingerboard with red dyed maple inlay around the fingerboard and headstock. Truly a work of art with only a few minor dings and scratches. The switch tip is also missing. 9.6 lbs. Hard case included. Condition: Excellent.
