1964 Fender Stratocaster Sunburst Solid Body Electric Guitar, Serial # L47901. Transition pre-CBS Sunburst Stratocaster. By most sources, Fender was purchased by CBS in October 1964. This is truly one of the last pre-CBS Strats. Pots date code (137-6420) or the 20th week of 1964. Pickups have 11-19-64 & 11-23-64 dates and are gray bottoms with ink written dates. Neck date 2 OCT 64 B verifies pre-transition aspect. All original guitar except for the 5-way switch and the bridge pickup has been jumped for tone control. Original frets show moderate wear and very minimal fingerboard wear in the first position. A nice figured maple neck as seen in this era. Original tremolo cover included but is missing screws and has two broken screw holes. Original finish shows checking and there is major buckle wear on the back down to the wood. Various normal dings, scuffs and scrapes. One Double Line Kluson tuner on the high E, the rest are Single Line; this was a transition year, so still possible original. Extra saddles accompany this guitar. Original hard case included. Condition: Good.
