1962 Gibson ES-335 Cherry Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar, Serial # 52000. Widely regarded as the first commercially successful thinline archtop electric, the Gibson ES-335 has been a favorite of jazz, rock and blues players since it was introduced. It was launched in 1958 with a starting price of just under $270 and has remained a strong seller for Gibson to this very day. This late 1962 example has small block markers which are correct for this transition year. Minor buckle scratches are present on the back but none go through the finish. A rare factory Bigsby model, this guitar retains its Custom Made plaque. The switch tip has been replaced and the insert for the bridge pickup cover is missing. The two original PAF pickups are undisturbed and are factory wired out of phase for that Peter Green sound. Overall, one of the better examples of an unfaded cherry 335 that we have ever offered. Original hard case included. Condition: Very Good. Price Guide Value $19,000
