1960 Gretsch Chet Atkins Hollow Body Model 6120 Guitar. Commonly referred to by its model number '6120', the Chet Atkins Hollow Body guitar was the top-of-the-line of the series of instruments that bore Chet Atkins' name. This is an extremely rare variation of the model, most notably for its Brown finish. Two others are known to exist in this color, one of which was a prototype for the model, given to Chet Atkins by Gretsch. The highly figured Maple used for the top and back is also unusual for a Gretsch instrument of this era. Although there are only three examples known in this walnut color, this guitar is not John Entwhistle's, as originally described, although it would appear to be a sister piece. An original Gretsch Melita adjustable bridge is currently on the guitar, and a standard bar bridge is included. Also included with this instrument are its original hardshell case, tooled leather strap, and some original factory paperwork.
