Description

John Taylor's circa 1980's Aria Pro II SB1000 Natural Electric Bass Guitar, Serial #101048.
This Aria Pro II SB1000 bass guitar in natural finish dates to the early 1980s and carries serial #101048. A flagship model of its era, the SB1000 features neck-through construction, active electronics, and the signature BB Circuit. The bass remains in very clean condition, showing only light signs of use. It includes two letters of provenance verifying its history and ownership. John Taylor received this bass through his endorsement with Aria, and shortly after the Planet Earth video shoot, he gifted it to guitarist and songwriter Gerry Laffy. A period-correct hard case is included, though the latches are broken and in need of repair.
11.8lbs. Hard case included. Condition: Very Good.
John Taylor's association with the SB1000 helped define the sound and style of early '80s new wave and synth-pop. Its transfer to Gerry Laffy adds another layer of significance: Laffy used this very bass on a range of projects, including Money & The Magic, Sublime to the Ridiculous, Lying with Angels, All Day Long, Icebox Studio, and Just a Little Blurred. The bass stands as a tangible link between two notable British musicians of the era, combining the legacy of Duran Duran with Laffy's solo and collaborative work.
