Description
Timothy B. Schmit's circa 1970's Fender 400 PS Black Amplifier Head, Serial #128488.This Fender 400 PS holds a significant place in both musical and technical history. Released during the CBS era, it was Fender's ambitious response to the increasing demand for stage volume in the early 1970s, especially among bassists in stadium-level rock bands. Its use of six 6550 tubes to drive multiple cabinets is a testament to its overbuilt design and sheer power. Beyond its engineering, this specific amp's provenance adds considerable value. As the personal amp of Timothy B. Schmit-used during his time with Poco before he joined the Eagles-it connects directly to the evolution of West Coast rock and country fusion. Included with the amplifier is a copy of the typed and signed preface written by Timothy Schmit specifically for this auction, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity from Heritage Auctions, also signed by Schmit.
Whether you're a tone chaser, vintage amp enthusiast, or collector of artist-owned gear, this is an exceptionally rare piece of Fender and rock history.
