The Fireballs Sugar Shack 1958 Fender Twin-Amp As a teenager, George Tomsco, master guitarist for The Fireballs, attended a gig by country star Hank Thompson and was captivated by the look and sound of the new Fender Twin-Amp. He drove up to Denver in late 1958 and at a music store, traded his first Fender Tremolux amplifier and Fender Stratocaster in for a new Fender Twin-Amp and blond Jazzmaster guitar. When he returned home with his newly purchased items, he had to sell his Harley Davidson motorcycle to finish paying the balance of the loan. The new amp became his recording and performing workhorse throughout his 61 year Fireballs career at the Norman Petty Studio in Clovis, New Mexico. George says, "That tube amp felt and sounded exactly right for me to express and perform my own music with The Fireball feel and style!" This is the amp used on the guitar instrumental hits Torquay, Bulldog, Quite A Party, Rik-A-Tik, Panic Button and hundreds more sessions George played on. It is responsible for that 'raspy bottom end sound' of their 1963 #1 hit song Sugar Shack by Jimmy Gilmer and The Fireballs. George laughs and recalls, "I dragged that amp around to all the gigs on the road and studios until the original tweed cover started peeling off. I finally had to take it to a pro in 1990 and have it recovered in the original tweed." George, now 80 years old, says, "I'm so glad I had that amp with me from the early years performing, and in the studio recording all those guitar instrumentals, our vocals, and especially "SUGAR SHACK!"

Retweeded, original early high power Twin. Transformers appear to be original but the chassis has extra holes drilled on each end. Some extra holes in the cabinet as well. Speakers are correct and date to late 1957. Retweed was done in a very professional manner but heavily lacquered. Most screws are non-original slot-heads.
