Description
Gram Parsons' 1972 David Russell Young Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar. Stunningly beautiful guitar played and owned by Gram Parsons. The guitar, played by Gram on the Fallen Angels tour and during his recording sessions, was built by master luthier David Russell Young and sold to Parsons through consignment at Los Angeles's Westwood Music. It has been on display for the last ten years at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland Ohio.
Mr. Young was known for his use of figured Brazilian Rosewood, intricate inlay and subtle engraving. Beyond the historical significance of being one of Gram Parsons last instruments, the guitar is tonally magnificent, structurally intact and absolutely playable. The guitar has nicks and scratches that one would expect from a professional artist's guitar used daily in the 1970s. There are no breaks except for a nicely repaired headstock crack. The back, neck and sides are all Brazilian Rosewood and the top is cedar.
In all ways, this is an incredibly significant guitar from one of America's finest singer/ songwriters and the originator of the country rock genre of popular music. Original hard case included. Condition: Very Good. Price Guide Value N/A
