Danny Gatton's 1974 Randy Wood Custom Sunburst Acoustic Guitar. In the world of custom and vintage acoustic guitars and mandolins, it's hard to find anyone with a finer reputation than builder Randy Wood. This remarkable instrument, custom built for Danny Gatton, is a testament to Wood's abilities. The date signed on the undersaddle reads 1974. The guitar is a complete custom creation with dimensions similar to the Martin OM. It has a 15.75 inch body width and side depths that taper from 4.75 inches to 3.25 inches. The spruce top has a beautiful medium wide grain. The back and sides are a subtle flamed maple as is the neck with a dark center strip. The top has a fine herringbone trim. The body, fingerboard and peghead are bound in a white plastic that has yellowed. The heel has been expertly carved and there is a violin style volute at the peghead. The peghead, fingerboard and end pin inlays are beautifully designed and expertly executed. The cutaway was added after the guitar was completed. The guitar is set up perfectly and a delight to play. A fine tribute to the talent of both Randy Wood and Danny Gatton. A COA signed by Danny is also included along with a vintage Danny Gatton t-shirt and Poster. Older tweed Gibson hard case included. Condition: Excellent. Price Guide Value N/A
