Buddy Holly/Everly Brothers 1951 Gibson J-185 Sunburst Acoustic Guitar, Serial # A8883 Owned and Played By Graham Nash

From Graham Nash's personal collection, this guitar was passed around and played on the tour bus on the second-to-last tour that Buddy Holly did before his passing. Not only has Graham owned this, he has also played it. This guitar has been oversprayed and the tuners appear to be good quality replacements. The holes from the previous tuners have been filled. FON # 9110 28. In Very Good condition with nicks and wear on the body. Comes with white case.

Graham was told this either belonged to Buddy Holly or the Everly Brothers. It was passed around on the tour bus when they toured in the late 1950s with Sam Cooke and Dion.

"I don't know whose guitar this was, but it had to be one of them, because it wasn't the bus driver's."

Turns out, we have found who the original owner was. Jim "Jimmy" Minor was a country music entertainer. He bought the guitar new in 1952 from a store in Evansville, Indiana. He used it his whole career. He sold the guitar to Dale Leichsenring in 1994, and he sold it around 1997 to Willie's Vintage Guitars in St. Paul, Minnesota. That's where Nash purchased it. Minor brought the guitar on the 1958 rockabilly tour. Minor kept his guitar on the bus and they passed it around and Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers played the guitar. The Everly Brothers had their guitar stolen on the tour and borrowed Minor's. The Everly Brothers liked the guitar so much that Gibson issued an Everly Brothers j-185 signature guitar.
