Allman Brothers Signed Limited Edition Washburn "Melissa" Guitar (1995). The Allman Brothers Band, formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1969 by brothers Duane Allman and Gregg Allman, incorporating elements of Southern rock, blues, jazz, and country music, with jam band-style improvisation and dual guitar instrumentals.
"Melissa" was released in August,1972, as the second single from the group's third studio album, Eat a Peach. This guitar is a limited edition 1995 Washburn Allman Brothers Band "Melissa" Signature Acoustic Gregg Allman model, with built-in pickups and equalizer. The EA20 limited edition is a single Florentine cutaway, with a special "Melissa" fingerboard inlay. This model was designed in collaboration with Gregg Allman, and while numbered #71/950, it is thought that only 500 instruments were built.
This particular guitar was signed in gold ink by Gregg Allman, Allen Woody, and Butch Trucks, all of whom have passed. It is also signed by Dickey Betts, Warren Haynes, and Jaimoe (who has added "A.B.B." to his signature). The guitar is in unplayed condition and includes its original shipping box. Also included are photos of all of the band members except Gregg Allman signing the guitar. COA from Heritage Auctions.
