Description

1969 Martin D-45 Natural Acoustic Guitar, Serial #250270.
The 1969 Brazilian Rosewood Martin D-45 has for decades been sought after by players and collectors alike. This has to be one of, if not the best preserved examples. Other than the replacement of the famously flawed "potato chip" pickguard, this guitar shows as unplayed. Very minor nicks and dings. Slight touch up by the neck heel cap and on the back of the neck, only visible under black-light examination. Bright, clean, original finish has not weather checked. Clean, unplayed frets on a nice straight neck. Excellent saddle height. Original bridge has a very fine crack between the A-D-G and B pins. Condition is always important when considering such a fine instrument. The provenance that accompanies this guitar creates a rare opportunity for someone looking to own the "Holy Grail" of Martin guitars. In addition to our catalog description, this guitar is fortunate to also have a recent in-hand, forensic level analysis from highly respected guitar expert George Gruhn. At 50+ years of age, it seems unlikely that a nicer example exist. Truly a fine guitar. Original price-tag included. Original hard case included. Condition: Excellent.
