Description
1961 Guild F-50 Sunburst Acoustic Guitar, Serial #14976.This 1961 Guild F-50 Jumbo acoustic guitar was built in the Hoboken, NJ factory and features a sunburst finish with a birdseye maple laminate back, solid spruce top, and a 2-piece maple neck with walnut spine. The bridge is lifting slightly but remains stable and does not currently require re-gluing. The pickguard has been professionally replaced with an era-correct replica, and a reinforcement patch under the top supports a previously repaired pickguard crack. The finish shows typical dings and scratches from regular play. Notable features include engraved tuners with diamond stairstep pearloid buttons. The guitar is in good playing condition.
Original hard case included. Condition: Very Good.
The Guild F-50 was the company's top-of-the-line jumbo model in the early 1960s, designed to compete with Gibson's J-200 and aimed at professional players seeking volume, clarity, and bold aesthetics. This 1961 example showcases the craftsmanship of Guild's Hoboken era, with its birdseye maple back and engraved tuners setting it apart visually and sonically.
