The Beatles Unused Concert Ticket for First US Concert in Washington D.C. (1964). We don't often run into one of these, and when we did, there was tremendous excitement throughout the office. This is an unused purple ticket for a historical night in the Beatles' history: their first concert in the US at the Washington Coliseum in Washington D.C. on February 11, 1964, only two days after they made their legendary performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Beatlemania was in full force in America.Over 8,000 people saw the Fabs perform in the boxing arena, housed in the town recognized as having the radio station that first played the group on the airwaves. A snowstorm prevented the Fabs from flying from New York to Washington D.C. so they took a train. (Opening act the Chiffons were not able to perform because of the storm.) The 12-song 35 minute set was performed to a constant barrage of screaming fans. Footage was filmed by CBS of the show, and it was shown in movie theaters the following month. (Portions of the footage were used in lengthy Anthology documentary in the mid-1990s.)
Ticket was for section 35, row B, and seat 7. Has had some restoration done. In overall Very Good Plus condition with light bumping in the corners, with restoration visible throughout under direct light, along with toning. Be sure and add this ticket to the collection. An absolutely momentous occasion in the history of rock & roll!
