Description
Beatles Unused Ticket to Their Last Performance on the Ed Sullivan Show, August 14, 1965, with Original Folder, Transmittal Letter, and Envelope. A "not for sale" 4" x 1.75" blue cardstock ticket, numbered 637, for the 7 PM show at CBS Television Studio No. 50 at 1697 Broadway, sponsored by Lever Bros., Kent Cigarettes, and Burlington Industries. It is enclosed in the original 3.25" x 5.25" folder as originally sent to the lucky recipient. The letter of transmittal is also included: "Enclosed are the tickets requested by you for THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW of August 14, 1965, featuring the Beatles..." Very rare, especially with accompanying extras. The ticket and folder are excellent, the letter shows wear and tear, and the registered envelope is damaged from being excitedly ripped open (as any Beatle fan would do). This performance on Saturday, August 14, 1965, was taped and not aired until September 12, 1965. Other than later promotional clips supplied to Sullivan, it was the Beatles' fourth and last "live" appearance on the show and they performed six songs. The first set consisted of: "I Feel Fine," "I'm Down," and "Act Naturally." They then closed the show with: "Ticket to Ride," "Yesterday" (Paul, introduced by George, performing solo on guitar with string accompaniment), and "Help." Cilla Black, another Brian Epstein act, was on the same show. The day after this taping the Beatles kicked off their North American tour with a record-setting performance at Shea Stadium with 55,000+ in attendance!
