The Beatles ["The White Album"] Low Numbered A0000023 Copy LP (Apple 101, 1968). When was the last time you saw such a low-numbered copy ("A0000023") of "The White Album"? Probably never! Most of the lowest numbered copies went to "insiders" - in this case it was to Paul's '60s girlfriend, Jane Asher. This advance copy was sent to Miss Asher prior to the record being made available to the public. She received the record from Apple while filming the movie "The Winters Tale" at Pinewood Studios near London. She brought the record to Peter Allchorne, Prop Manager at Pinewood, and asked him to play it for her. As Peter puts it, "Unfortunately she only got to hear one side of it as she was called away to commence filming. After she had gone, I removed the record from the turntable, put it back in the record cover and placed the album in my prop box for safe keeping. The record album remained in the prop box until late 2011 when it was discovered during a clean out of that prop box."
Included here is a copy of 16 Magazine Spectacular from the summer of 1965. The magazine had been sent to Allchorne by Miss Asher. A photo of Allchorne can be found on page 45, taken on the set of "Help!"
Condition of the album: NM 8 (cover)/ GM-MT 10 (Sides 2, 3, and 4 are unplayed) and NM 8 (Side 1). The four photos of the Beatles originally included with the album are present and in Excellent condition. LOA from Peter Allchorne.
