T-Bone Walker Mambo Club Concert Poster (1952). Extremely Rare. Window card printed on card stock in green and black for a show in Wichita, KS on "Sun. Afternoon Mar. 23rd". The poster announces "In Person! / T-Bone / Walker / and Band". It features a classic image of a grinning Walker playing the guitar with a a large circular illustration of musical notes in the foreground. An oval "Capitol / Records / Hollywood" logo is pictured to the lower right corner. Measures 14" x 22". In Very Good condition two water stains to the upper edge, not affecting the image, wear to corners and edges commensurate with age, toning to borders.

This is one of only two known examples of this important poster generally considered by collectors to be the earliest and most graphically appealing of all known T-Bone Walker concert posters. It is the first time an example has ever been offered for auction. T-Bone first recorded for Columbia Records in 1929 and by the 40s he was the first musician to lead an orchestra out front with an electric guitar. A true pioneer in every sense of the word, during this same era, Walker was playing behind his back or head with his guitar while easing into a full splits without missing a note. These showy techniques were later famously adopted by Jimi Hendrix and many others. In recognition of his contribution to the Blues, Walker was inducted in to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, in the Early Influences category.
