Little Esther Phillips Memory Lane Mono LP (King 622, 1959). The sub-title of this album is "The Best Songs Little Esther Ever Recorded," not to be confused with her greatest hits, mind you, because neither her earliest hits as a singer for the Johnny Otis Orchestra from 1948-50, nor her later solo hits in the '60s and '70s are represented here. One of R&B's first female superstars, she had her first #1 hit at age 12, and still just 23 years old when this album was released in 1959, before she began a comeback with her big hit "Release Me" in 1962. This King offering is a tough one to find! Condition: VG-EX 6 (damage at right bottom corner on front / VG-EX 6 (looks EX 7).
