Black Dyke Mills Band -Yellow Submarine 10" One-sided Apple Acetate (1969). The Black Dyke Mills Band was one of the most famous brass ensembles in the world, first assembled in 1855 by John Foster and named for the textile mill he built in the Black Dyke area of Queensbury in West Yorkshire. The band was made up of employees of the mill. Paul McCartney was commissioned to write the theme song for Thingumybob and hired the Black Dyke Mills Band to record it, plus back with an instrumental version of "Yellow Submarine". In July 1968 Paul McCartney traveled with a group of Apple staff members and engineers to Saltaire, near Bradford England to record the two songs. This is the first group to be pressed on the Beatle Apple label, Apple #1800. Very few copies would have made of this 10" one-sided Apple acetate which is only the A-side of the single release. Condition: EX 7
