Beatles "Please Please Me" Promo 45 and Rare Sleeve (Vee-Jay 581, 1964). The original US pressing of "Please Please Me"/ "From Me To You" (Vee-Jay 498, 1963) didn't cause a stir, but when Beatlemania hit with full force in early 1964, Vee-Jay's second pressing met with much greater success. Vee-Jay issued a sleeve with the promo proclaiming this to be "The Record That Started Beatlemania!" The actual recording did precede the Fab's first two #1 US singles "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You", but didn't peak in the US until after those two had established a foothold on the #1 Billboard Top 100 charts in early 1964. The sleeve is rarer and more valuable than the promo disc. Condition: VG 5 (price sticker on one side, small amount of writing ["Rec"] on the other)/ VG-EX 6 ("Please Please Me" side has some tape residue on the label).
