Beatles "Please Please Me"/"From Me to You" and "Do You Want to Know A Secret"/ "Thank You Girl" 45 Group of 2 (Vee-Jay 581 and 587, 1964). If US record buyers weren't quite ready for the Beatles in 1963 when Vee-Jay issued two singles, they sure were in 1964! "Please Please Me" (which had been recorded in 1962) skyrocketed up the charts in early 1964 and missed hitting #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart only because two other Beatles' smashes ("I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You") blocked the path! This is the black Vee-Jay label with no rainbow circle version, but it's the sleeve that's the valued collectible here -- one of just four Vee-Jay single picture sleeves, and this one's a super-sharp copy! We've thrown in an original VJ singles sleeve as well, just because. The second selection is a plain black label version with a picture sleeve just as nice as the first! Condition: 581 is NM 8; 587 is EX 7. Both picture sleeves are in NM 8.
