Description
Beatles "In My Life" Acetate (Emidisc, 1965) Brian Epstein's Personal Copy. This one-sided 7" 45 rpm acetate has quite a history. The song was included on the classic Rubber Soul album, and often makes the short list of greatest-ever Beatles tunes, John Lennon at his sensitive, poignant best. In fact, it was voted the #1 Beatles song of all time in a poll by the highly respected UK magazine Record Collector. That makes the limited number acetate a highly-prized collectible, but there's more! This copy is from band manager Brian Epstein's personal collection, inherited by his brother Clive following Brian's untimely death in 1967. It was obtained in 1978 from Clive Epstein by noted author Gareth L. Pawlowski (How They Became the Beatles), a serious collector who took great pride in owning unique memorabilia, after Pawlowski made a donation to an Epstein family-supported charity. Included is a copy of Clive Epstein's letter to Pawlowski dated June 23, 1978, advising the disc was on its way to America. Also included is a letter of authenticity from Gary Johnson of Rockaway Records, dated February 11, 1996 attesting to the acetate's ownership history. A fab piece from the Fab Four's glory days.
