"The Platters" LP King 651 Mono (1959). This was a reissue of an album on Federal in 1957. The Platters were the premier vocal group of the 1950s, charting 40 singles on the Pop charts from 1955 to 1967. The version of "Only You", one of their classic hits, was different here than the version recorded on Mercury, the label where they enjoyed their long successful run. The songs here have an edge not normally associated with the smooth group, sort of a groovin', rockin', doo-wop and R&B kinda thang! Even though a reissue, this is just about as rare as the Federal original. Terrific sound - record looks VG, but plays VG+. The front cover is VG+; the back VG with yellowing along the edge and across the top.
