    Description

ZZ Top "Worldwide Texas Tour" 1976 San Diego, California Concert Poster. Here's a perfect poster for the vibe ZZ Top had in the mid-1970s in the midst of their World Wide Texas tour. Featuring Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard walking down an empty road, this was for an early August show at Charger Stadium (also known as San Diego Stadium) in San Diego.

This is on extra heavy paper, with a nice robust stock and high quality print job.

The trio had released Fandango! in the previous year (and their next album, Tejas, would be released at the end of 1976) and they were well-established with their blend of boogie, blues, country, and southern rock. The ZZ Top sound went far beyond small clubs and halls. With songs like "La Grange" and "Just Got Paid," they crossed over with riffs that sang and grooves that made you move feet.

The show started early at 4 in the afternoon, and the warm-up acts were not some no-namers: Blue Öyster Cult and Johnny & Edgar Winter. The place could hold up to 70,000 for Chargers games, and people didn't blink at a band playing a stadium. This was the era of stadium and arena rock, attracting thousands to a single spot.

Measures 18 1/2" x 25" and grades to Near Mint Minus condition. The front of this poster basically looks perfect. What's interesting is that the verso reveals a 10-inch horizontal crease about 2/3 of the way down the poster, but when you flip it over, the crease is completely lost is the desert artwork. Also on the verso, each of the four corners has a very mellow, benign square-shaped remnant of tape that was once there, but the tape is long gone and it's super-smooth to the touch.
