Woodstock Poster Genuine Original Large w/Arnold Skolnick COA (AOR-3.1). An original, authentic, pre-show printing of the large Woodstock Festival advertising poster from the summer of 1969. This specimen has the three tiny printer's flaws that all serious collectors know to look for in identifying the original first printings. Plus, poster artist Arnold Skolnick's signed Certificate of Authenticity is attached on the back.

Needless to say, most people consider Woodstock to be the most important weekend in this history of rock, a pop-culture milestone practically unmatched in history, and possibly the end of the 1960's. The talent line-up was spellbinding and legendary, and terrifically, the musicians are named on the poster, including Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Who, Santana, Crosby Stills & Nash, Jefferson Airplane, Sly and the Family Stone, Creedence Clearwater (Revival), Joan Baez, The Band, Joe Cocker and a host of others.

Measures 24" x 36" and grades to a dry-mounted Near Mint Minus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions. Literature: See Grushkin, Paul, The Art of Rock: Posters from Presley to Punk, Abbeville Press, New York, 1987, p.257 (illus.).

More Information: Additional musicians listed on the poster were Arlo Guthrie, Tim Hardin, Richie Havens, the Incredible String Band, Ravi Shankar, Bert Sommer, Sweetwater, Canned Heat, Keef Hartley, Mountain, Quill, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Ten Years After and Johnny Winter, and two artists that were scheduled but did not play: the Jeff Beck Group and Iron Butterfly.

Condition details: Poster has been professionally and perfectly dry-mounted to a white-sheet backing board. As a result, the front of the poster itself remains flawless. On the very bottom edge, there is just a little bit of white showing along where it was mounted. Very minor.

The verso has inch-wide tape residue/paper all around the perimeter. About a foot of it has been peeled off in one area, leaving just the tape residue underneath. Arnold Skolnick's COA has been adhered down as well.
