Velvet Underground And Nico Concert Poster "Andy Warhol Presents The Plastic Inevitable Show" (1966), Rare. Window card silkscreen on card stock advertising a series of shows at "New Shrine Of Pop Culture, The Trip, 8752 Sunset Strip, Los Angeles, May 3-18". The poster features a reproduction of artwork by Roy Lichtenstein as illustrated on the front cover of Newsweek magazine, dated April 25, 1966. The poster also shows a depiction of Warhol's Campbell Soup Kids to the lower right corner. Measures 14" x 22". In Near Mint Minus condition, with some minor toning to white areas and minor ink streaks to the Lichtenstein artwork, probably originating from the time of printing.

Literature: See Grushkin, Paul, The Art of Rock Posters from Presley to Punk, Abbeville Press, New York, 1987, p.271 (illus.).

The Plastic Inevitable Show was the brainchild of Pop artist Andy Warhol. The events combined performances by the Velvet Underground and Nico with light shows, dancing and Warhol films. The Velvets were supported by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention and accompanied by other members of Warhol's entourage including Edie Sedgwick, Gerard Malanga, and Mary Woronov. Numerous stars attended the opening night including Ryan O'Neil, Sonny and Cher and, apparently, a young Jim Morrison. Although scheduled for a two week residency, the shows ground to a halt after just three days when the Sheriff's Department closed the club down! A rare and highly desirable poster sought by collectors of both rock music and Pop Art.

The movie quite literally changed my life. I have included a pic of me in Sly's Rocky 3 Cashmere overcoat, would much appreciate if it is possible for you to forward this email to Sly to let him know the overcoat is in good hands, and will be well taken care of, (as will be the Rambo knife forging tools, the other lot I won!) Wish you very happy holidays and a great 2016!
