    Description

The Who Cow Palace Concert Poster AOR-4.42 (Bill Graham, 1973). Original poster, artwork by David Singer, for a show in San Francisco dated November 20. Measures 19" x 25.75". Near Mint Minus, with very minor wear.

Literature: See Grushkin, Paul, The Art of Rock Posters from Presley to Punk, Abbeville Press, New York, 1987, p.345 (illus.).

This is the famous concert when The Who's drummer Keith Moon collapsed mid-song on stage. Pete Townshend stopped the show and announced to the crowd that Moon "had eaten something he shouldn't have eaten...foreign food". The truth was he'd overdosed on tranquilizers and brandy that he'd consumed to calm his pre-show nerves and was unconscious. At this point, the band asked if anybody in the audience could play drums and fill in for the rest of the show. Nineteen-year old Scott Halpin was in the crowd and convinced promoter Bill Graham that he could do it and was given his fifteen minutes of fame.
