Description
The Great Society w/Grace Slick 1966 Matrix S.F. Handbill Graded 9.0 (AOR-2.124). An original handout flyer for The Great! Society appearing at the Matrix nightclub on Fillmore Ave. opening Tuesday, March 15, 1966. This piece carries the special cache, unlike anything else here, of having been designed by the Matrix's manager, Ray Andersen, from whose collection this auction is sourced from. Call this the "Shield" handbill derived from the American flag, and also containing that "sun-face" graphic with swirling rays found on the Big Brother & the Holding Company handbill in this auction.Notice sometimes "Great!" had an exclamation point in the group's name and sometimes it didn't; it does here. Measures 8 1/2" x 10 3/4" and graded 9.0 Very Fine/Near Mint by CGC (the Certified Guaranty Company). From the Ray Andersen Collection. Letter of Provenance from Sunny Andersen Chanel, COA from Heritage Auctions.
