Description

The Grass Roots 1970 Panther Hall, Ft. Worth, TX Large Day-Glo Concert Poster. An original first-printing Day-Glo concert poster for the Grass Roots appearing at Panther Hall in Ft. Worth, Texas on Friday night, January 23, 1970. This show (and poster) comes from the exact same time period as the popular Grateful Dead and Byrds concert posters that Heritage just sold in our April Signature auction.

The Grass Roots were cruising off the success of their eight Top 40 hits of the last few years, including "Let's Live for Today" and "Midnight Confessions." Rather than an opening act being listed, the poster just says "and Guest Bands." The promoter was Middle Earth, lights were by Family Circle and several ticket locations are given. Best of all, the colors really pop under a purple blacklight.

This first-ever Heritage offering measures 22" x 28" and grades to Near Mint condition. There's only a small amount of creasing at the very top of the poster, mostly harmless but it did produce a 1 ½" break in the black color above the dove's wing. Otherwise it's extremely clean. This poster has not been graded and slabbed by CGC because, unlike its Grateful Dead counterpart, it's not pictured in the Art of Rock book or Eric King guide so it doesn't qualify. COA from Heritage Auctions.
