Description
The Dave Clark Five 1966 "Direct from England" Jumbo Globe Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising British Invasion stalwarts the DC5 performing a concert at the "air-conditioned" Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina on Wednesday evening, July 20, 1966. Globe Posters' typical brilliant colors highlight this poster, along with a perfectly placed photo of the group, a couple of Top 10 hits listed, three local bands added to the bill and the local Top 40 radio station participating. It's a typically great mid-60's Globe poster all the way, but rarer than most... we've only seen one or two of these, ever, from any city on the tour. And never been able to offer you one before now.The DC5's Greatest Hits LP was in the national Top 40 of Billboard's album chart at the time of this show, stuffed with their incredible string of hits including "Glad All Over," "Bits and Pieces," "Do You Love Me," "Can't You See That She's Mine," "Because," "Any Way You Want It," "I Like It Like That," "Catch Us If You Can" and their biggest hit of all, the #1 "Over and Over." We wonder if they performed them all? It's very likely.
Measures 22" x 31" and grades to Very Good condition. From the Jim Cook Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.
More Information: The board has creasing which weakens its structure just a little bit, but it's holding together fine. There's a horizontal crease all the way across, skirting the top of "Dave" and breaking color in the "A." There's a vertical crease which breaks color to the left of the "C" in "Clark." There are many other little surface creases throughout, many of which break a little color. We're happy to report that the group photo escaped relatively unscathed. There's some surface grime or dirt down in the local-band white box. The corners are naturally rounded and worn, with a little tip of material missing from the bottom right one. Also standard general toning throughout. And the verso has all the expected markings and signs of age.
