Description

The Beatles Meet the Beatles Aintree Institute Handbill, One of Only Four Known (1961). "Beatlemania" had its roots on December 27, 1960, as John, Paul, George and drummer Pete Best played their first important Liverpool gig since returning from Hamburg, at the Litherland Town Hall. It was there that the screaming began for these four scruffy, leather-clan Rockers. This extremely rare handbill comes from less than a year later, as the lads began playing evening gigs at the Aintree Institute. This was the site of their earliest gigs after that famous Litherland show, and here, the mania grew even stronger. The handbill is on thin paper measuring approximately 8" x 5.125", and is in GD+ condition, with some light soiling and fold creases. It remains one of the earliest Beatle concert items in existence, one of only four known copies, and one of the very first to list the band as headliners.
