THE FAB FOUR'S SWAN SONG IMMORTALIZED BY WES WILSON

The Beatles 1966 Candlestick Park, San Francisco Final Show Concert Poster Graded 8.0 (AOR-1.115). An original concert-advertising cardboard window card for the Beatles' last-ever show, August 29, 1966 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, CA (now demolished). This is a coveted Beatles concert poster that almost everyone wants. We could never get enough of them, but of course they're scarce because this first printing was done before the show for the purpose of selling tickets, so everyone who has one wants to keep it. Always a tough grader because of all the black present, this specimen has been graded to 8.0 Very Fine by CGC (the Certified Guarantee Company).

A crowd of only 25,000 witnessed the greatest rock band in history say goodbye to live performances. Of course, if the world knew this in advance, the place would've sold out in a heartbeat. (Capacity was roughly 43,000.) Measures a pleasantly oversized 17 1/4" x 24 1/4". From the Ben Bierman Carmel Street Collection. LOP from Ben Bierman, COA from Heritage Auctions.

Literature: See Grushkin, Paul, The Art of Rock Posters from Presley to Punk, Abbeville Press, New York, 1987, p.64 (illus.).

More Information: The value of this poster has soared in recent times. Heritage sold a 9.2-graded and (Wes Wilson) signed copy in Spring 2022 for a stunning $32,500, and then bounced back with another signed 9.2 last summer for $27,500. Even an 8.5 pulled almost $14,000 last spring. So obviously, this is a rock-solid performer in the hobby, as we'd all expect.

The Fab Four bid farewell in San Francisco with the same set list they had used in Germany, Japan and the Philippines earlier that summer: "Rock and Roll Music," "She's a Woman," George's turn with "If I Needed Someone," "Day Tripper," "Baby's in Black," "I Feel Fine," "Yesterday," Ringo's turn with "I Wanna Be Your Man," "Nowhere Man," "Paperback Writer," "I'm Down" and the added bonus of "Long Tall Sally." So the Beatles opened their final gig with a Chuck Berry song, closed it with a Little Richard song - paying proper homage to their American heroes - and did 10 originals in between. Total length: about 33 minutes.
