The Beatles 1963 "Sensational" U.K. Parlophone Promotional Banner. An original EMI/Parlophone promotional banner-poster, as sent out to record stores and retailers, for The Beatles' "Sensational Records" released in 1963. "We Stock - Buy Them Here!"

It's a deceptively simple yet wickedly charismatic and boldly colorful promo poster for record stores - and the musical sections of department stores - to throw up on their limited wall space and promote the Fab Four and their vinyl releases. Font style can play an important role in the visual appeal of these things, and this classy banner illustrates that greatly... both "The Beatles" and "Sensational Records" are in a fun, playful type font. "The Beatles," especially, is very reminiscent of the font used on American Capitol's The Beatles' Second Album.

The orange, black and even the white colors are deep and rich. And it's interesting how EMI was left out of this... only Parlophone and their logo are displayed. Score one for George Martin, who was the head of Parlophone. Measures 28 3/8" x 8" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: We went to the additional effort of shooting this banner under a purple blacklight to show you the effects of EMI/Parlophone's Day-Glo inks... rather dazzling!

Condition details: The banner has had transparent tape applied to all four corners plus the top center (above "BE") and bottom center directly below that. It initially looks like black tape that blends in perfectly, but in the extreme lower right corner you can see something through it: "A/1141."

The banner was once folded in thirds, probably for a mailing envelope, but has been flattened for over 50 years. The two vertical creases flirt with breaking color, but either don't or barely do. Look for yourself. The first fold goes through the "E" in "The," the second "S" in "Sensational," misses the Parlophone circular logo and then hits the small "H" in "The." The second crease intersects the "T" in "Beatles," skims along the left edge of "E" in "Records" and then dissects the "T" in "Them."

No pinholes. The extreme lower right corner has a microscopic horizontal cut about 1 ½" long right at the banner's edge.

The movie quite literally changed my life. I have included a pic of me in Sly's Rocky 3 Cashmere overcoat, would much appreciate if it is possible for you to forward this email to Sly to let him know the overcoat is in good hands, and will be well taken care of, (as will be the Rambo knife forging tools, the other lot I won!) Wish you very happy holidays and a great 2016!
