Description

The Beach Boys 1964 "Summer Safari" Kansas City, MO Concert Poster. An original cardboard advertising window card for America's band, The Beach Boys, appearing in concert in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday, July 12, 1964. "The Beach Boys Summer Safari," the board proclaims in huge letters. "Starring In Person..." Well, you know.

Was it a great time to see the Beach Boys? "I Get Around" / "Don't Worry Baby" was the #3 record in the country this week, and had been #1 the previous two weeks. So yes, we would say so.

Also on the bill was Freddie "Palisades Park" Cannon; Jimmy Griffin, who would rise to fame with the group Bread in the 1970's; and The Kingsmen, about half a year after "Louie, Louie" had been a hit. (Lynn Easton was their drummer and leader.)

Measures 17 1/8" x 26" and grades to Near Mint condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Beautiful unused shape, with only the slightest of toning just from age. Miniscule edge wear in the upper two corners, very mild corner bump and barely discernable crease on upper right and lower left corners. Very slight printer's ink smearing in the white above "And The K" at the bottom; same with right under the two M's in "Jimmy." On the verso, creasing at the very top is much more visible than it is on the front. Even the two lower corners show that edge bumping a tiny bit more.
