Sun Ra Concert Posters (2) (1980s). Two 11" x 17" concert posters from the legendary Sun Ra. Born Herman Poole Blount, he shed his name and former life, and he claimed to be an alien from Saturn. Making challenging, improvisational jazz throughout his career, he's been cited by many as a major influence, including the MC5, Phish, and NRBQ. He died in 1993. Includes: 1) A Mike King-designed poster from 1988 for a show at the Pine Street Theatre. Offset printed. In Near Mint Minus condition with staple holes in each corner (along with in the middle of each border), along with spots of residue and staple dents; 2) A poster at the Rainbow with a mock-up of a Rolling Stone cover with Sun Ra. In Very Good Minus condition with four large tears from staples and small spots of creasing. COA from Heritage Auctions.
