Suicide / Heartbreakers / Johnny Thunders Mid-70's Max's Kansas City Fliers (4). Four marquee-style handbills at the legendary Max's Kansas City. Operating as a restaurant and a night club, this was place for rock 'n' roll, and not disco. While you could dance the night away at the plethora of clubs in New York City blasting disco, you saw new, emerging bands and their exciting sounds there.

On one night, you could see Johnny Thunders from the New York Dolls and his band, the Heartbreakers. On another night, you'd see the direct nastiness of Suicide, the duo fronted by Alan Vega. As important as CBGB's was for the breeding ground for the New York punk scene, Max's was as important, and these handbills are critical documentation of the scene.

    Three of them measure approx. 4" x 10" and the Heartbreakers one measures 3 ¾" x 11".

Their condition: Wed. Aug. 20 (first date given on the flyer) and Wed. Aug. 27 grading to Very Good, Wed. July 30 Very Good Minus, and Wed. Aug. 1 in just Good condition. All issues are visually apparent in the pictures: Creasing, toning, darker browning, crumpling and some missing paper. COA from Heritage Auctions.
