18-YEAR-OLD STEVIE WONDER ALREADY CARRYING A POSTER

Stevie Wonder 1968 Regal Theatre, Chicago Jumbo Concert Poster. A large, original cardboard window card advertising Stevie Wonder, pictured with his early large harmonica, appearing at the Regal for five nights commencing Friday, June 14, 1968. Stevie was in the national pop charts right now with his latest Top 10 hit, "Shoo-Be-Doo-Be-Doo-Da-Day." The previous summer it had been "I Was Made to Love Her."

Remarkably, though, the biggest hit on this poster belonged to a bottom-billed group... Archie Bell & the Drells, from Houston, TX. Their debut smash "Tighten Up" had been #1 in the country just a few weeks earlier and was still in the national Top 10. This poster was printed in red and steel-blue ink, measures 22" x 28" and grades to a strong Very Good Plus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: This remains the only specimen of this poster that Heritage has ever seen. This exact poster was sold by us back in November 2021, and that buyer has decided to consign much of his collection to Heritage here in 2024.

Condition details: This should be Near Mint Minus, but the tiniest bit of missing top-layer white paper in the lower left corner, plus a 1 ½" crease that catches the red just a tad, mandates our strong Very Good Plus grade. No cardboard is missing, just that tiny tip of white paper. The board also has a very tiny strip of brown toning along the top edge, plus and "edge push" in the upper left corner area (but not a dinged corner). Present but not considered damage are the two printer's anomalies, a blue border smudge above the "R" in "Regal" and another, smaller one in the same spot on the bottom white margin.
