Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble 1983 Paradiso Amsterdam Concert Poster. An original pre-show concert poster was for the Dallas-born bluesman's first appearance in Amsterdam. Held on September 9, 1983, SRV and his backing band Double Trouble (Chris Layton on drums and Tommy Shannon on bass) brought their gospel of life and love to an appreciative crowd. At the time, the debut album Texas Flood was the only material out there for the world to hear. Measures 17" x 24" and grades to Near Mint condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Stevie gravitated to the guitar at a young age, receiving a handed-down guitar from his older brother Jimmie. He played his guitar constantly as he practiced, recorded, and gigged throughout his teenage years. Getting hooked up with Double Trouble, he found the right blend of his rock-tinged take on the blues. Thanks to the kindness of Jackson Browne, who offered free studio time in his studio, the trio made something that record label execs could hear. Landing a record deal, the 10 tracks for Texas Flood were recorded in only two days.

While new wave and heavy metal were on the minds of many rock fans during this time, there were plenty of those who did not connect with it. SRV had a distinct vibe to his take on the blues that made him more of a crossover appeal than the average blues player. In the years to come, he would become legendary in the minds of many, with further albums with Double Trouble and his guest solo on David Bowie's blockbuster single, "Let's Dance."

But for this show, the 11 tunes performed were a taste of things to come. SRV might have been around for many years before this in small clubs, playing the former church-turned-music venue Paradiso in the heart of Amsterdam, this place was a mainstay for rock bands of the day (and for decades after that). Acts from the Rolling Stones to the Sex Pistols to Arcade Fire have graced its stage.
