Simon & Garfunkel, Dustin Hoffman 1968 Indianapolis Concert Poster. An original and unusual vintage concert poster for Simon & Garfunkel performing in concert, with actor Dustin Hoffman also on the bill, in the spring of 1968 in Indianapolis, IN. The two pop-culture titans, S&G and Hoffman, were a perfect match due to the mainstream popularity of The Graduate, the hit film that year which turned them both into household names. This was a benefit concert for Senator Eugene McCarthy running for President on an anti-war platform; alas, Hubert Humphrey won the Dem's nomination instead. Features a very psychedelic, lime green sphere as the central artwork. Measures 17 1/2" x 22 1/2" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The Graduate was released to American theaters in December 1967 and was an instant commercial and critical success. It was nominated for seven Academy Awards, was the highest-grossing picture of the year and became a major pop-culture touchstone in the late 60's, not to mention making Dustin Hoffman a star.

And the soundtrack album on Columbia Records was almost all Simon & Garfunkel: it featured two versions each of "Mrs. Robinson," "The Sound of Silence" and "Scarborough Fair/Canticle," plus "April Come She Will" and "The Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine."

To tie up all the synchronicities with this poster perfectly, the week of this concert is also the exact week "Mrs. Robinson" entered Billboard magazine's Hot 100. It would go all the way to #1 for three weeks, and S&G's status as household names was cemented.

Condition details: Poster once got moist or wet, so has that brittle dried-out feel to it. The top quarter of the poster got wettest, probably when it was rolled up, so there are very light water stains across "Simon" and the men's faces. The poster has a little brown toning down along the left and right edges, and the edge to the left of the date and venue information has bumping, a little creasing and small tears. There's also a quarter-inch edge tear to the right of the ticket prices. The verso shows the effects of everything described above, amplified.
