    A WEEK LATER, THEY WERE HISTORY

    Sex Pistols 1978 Dallas, Texas Unused Concert Ticket, Right Before They Broke Up. An unused ticket from the infamous final Sex Pistols U.S. tour when the English punk band played a lot of shows in America's south, wishing for constant confrontation with rednecks and conservatives. This gig was in Dallas, Texas, where one can just imagine how punk music was going over. It was quite an evening, one that resulted in bandmember Sid Vicious getting beaten up and hospitalized.

    This show was on Tuesday, January 10, 1978, and less than a week later, the band was history. They played their final show four days later in San Francisco, and then went their separate ways. Leader Johnny Rotten announced in a newspaper interview on January 18 that the group was kaput. Rotten changed his name back to his birth name, Johnny Lydon, and formed Public Image Limited later this year. Vicious would survive for a year after this show with his heroin addiction, finally succumbing to it in February 1979.

    Green and white card general-admission ticket numbered 00362 and priced at $3.50. Measures 4 1/4" x 1 1/2", and in excellent, unused condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.
