Rush 1977 Kitchener, Ontario, Canada Concert Poster. An artifact from when Canadian power trio Rush knew what they were doing music-wise, but not necessarily fashion-wise. Still promoting their surprisingly successful album 2112 (with its entire A-side devoted to a multi-part story set in a dystopian world), the band headlined an arena known for its hockey and basketball events and could hold about 8,400.

This is a very rare, and scarcely found poster. Think of it as the poster equivalent of the guitar found in the "Discovery" section of "2112."

For a band that started out inspired by Blue Cheer and Led Zeppelin, Rush morphed into progressive rock titans with a crossover appeal. Critics hated them for decades, but there was a core of kids from the working class and upper middle class that would that let Rush be Rush. 2112 was their anthem and rallying cry, and their success would continue with their 1977 follow-up, A Farewell to Kings.

Make no mistake, the guys in Rush wished they could be in T-shirts and jeans for their photo shoots. But they were pressured to have a defined look, so they bought a bunch of kimonos one night and decided to don them. For people who hated Geddy Lee's voice, Neil Peart's lyrics, and the band's twisting tunes, seeing them in kimonos gave more reasons to cast stones. But not for the people actually buying the LPs and concert tickets.

This is printed on paper is thicker than usual paper. Measures 17" x 22" and grades to Very Good condition. Poster was quarter-folded which is visually apparent, but doesn't break the black color until you get down into the lettering. Otherwise in excellent shape, with very little to no surface creasing or handling; the corners are sharp and no other damage is present. COA from Heritage Auctions.
