Rolling Stones 1978 Some Girls Cardboard Promotional Poster.
A flashy window card made by Atlantic Records to promote the Rolling Stones' new album Some Girls, an LP that went to #1 in Billboard and spawned the band's last-ever #1 hit single, "Miss You."

Printed by the Colby Poster Printing Co. in Los Angeles, this card cleverly mimics Colby's ubiquitous boxing-style concert posters found on telephone poles all over Southern California. It's the same size, shape and weight of Colby's usual posters, and even used the 'split-fountain' colorizing technique by rolling pink into yellow into blue.

Atlantic Records had a lot of fun marketing this Stones album, still a product of the innocent pre-MTV era. Its cover artwork was outrageous enough to draw a great deal of attention, so all kinds of promo posters, displays and ads were used showing all the women in drag on the cover... including, of course, the Stones themselves, plus various celebrities. Can you spot Beatle George Harrison in there?

All in all, it's a very enjoyable promo piece for an outrageously fun and successful Stones album, which many feel was the band's last totally great record and the end of an era. We're lucky enough to have located this original in beautiful unused, Near Mint Minus condition. We've auctioned two of these before, and both went for over $1,000. Measures 14" x 22", with wigs not included. ;-) COA from Heritage Auctions.
