Rolling Stones 1964 First U.S. Tour Rare Carnegie Hall Mini-Handbill Card.
A small advertising handout promoting the Rolling Stones' debut performance in New York City in the spring of 1964, at the esteemed Carnegie Hall. Yes it's a small item, but so were the Stones at the time... the Beatles had commanded all the success and attention, and the Stones were whimpering into town with not even a Top 40 hit to their credit, and a recently scheduled show in New Haven, CT having been canceled for lack of interest.

The front side shows that classic Stones publicity shot which was used so much in '64. And their American record label, London Records, is plugged at the bottom. Then on the other side, the wording is terrific. Notice how a NYC disc jockey gets equal or better billing than the desperate-for-attention Stones. Also notice how Murray the "K" was starting to alter the spelling of "Beatle" to avoid legal difficulties with the group and Capitol Records.

Saturday, June 20, 1964, with two shows, at 2:30 and 7:30 PM. Within six weeks, the Stones would finally break into the American Top 40 with "Tell Me (You're Coming Back)," and indeed never look back.

Measures 2.25" x 3.25", and grades in excellent condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.
