THE YEAR OF EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY

Rod Stewart & (Small) Faces 1971 Boston Metallic-Silver Concert Poster. A striking silver-metallic Rod Stewart & Faces concert poster from the absolute apex of their career together, playing at the Music Hall Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts on Tuesday, February 9, 1971. It was a big concert with England's Savoy Brown also on the bill, along with Joe Cocker's backing unit The Grease Band.

The Faces/Small Faces had not made much of a dent in the American marketplace quite yet, but they sure would later this year with the release of A Nod Is As Good As a Wink... To a Blind Horse album, with its Top 20 hit "Stay with Me" (sung by Rod, of course). And Rod himself was a few months away from releasing the biggest album of his career, Every Picture Tells a Story, with its smash solo smash hit, "Maggie May." So everyone was sitting on the launching pad, about to shoot off into big commercial success.

And speaking of faces... notice this poster has 10 of them. It's also clever the way the designer de-emphasized the "Small" from the group's name, placing it inside the "C" in very small type. Measures 13" x 19 ½" and grades to Very Good condition with creasing throughout and bumped corners. COA from Heritage Auctions.
