Description

Rick Griffin Big Brother and the Holding Company "Denver Opening" Concert Poster FD-D1 (Family Dog, 1967). For a few months in the Winter of 1967, Chet Helms and the Family Dog took a stab at producing shows in Denver. While it wasn't a financial success, the shows produced some fantastic posters, and with wonderful Rick Griffin art depicting the Zig Zag Man, Lipton Tea Man, Grateful Dead Skeleton, and others, none were more spectacular than the first. This poster was made to advertise that first Denver show, which was opened by Proto-Metal pioneers Blue Cheer, and headlined by the Janis Joplin-fronted Big Brother and the Holding Company. Measures approximately 20" x 28", and is in Near Mint Minus condition, with very minor creasing.
